Paraffin at Mojo Salon
Hands or feet can be covered with melted paraffin wax to soften and moisturize. Paraffin wax is used because it can be heated to temperatures in excess of 95°F (35°C) without causing burns or any injury to the body. The intense heat promotes deeper absorption of emollients and essential oils. The wax is usually infused with various botanical ingredients such as aloe vera oils, azulene (moisturizing) oil, chamomile oil, or tea tree oil. Paraffin waxes composed of fruits such as apples, peaches, and strawberries are also often used in beauty salons. Moisturizer may be rubbed on the hand or foot before paraffin is applied. Paraffin wax care is often considered as an additional step to a regular hand or foot care.
Paraffin must be used in a way that prevents contamination and disease transmission. For example, paraffin bath should not be used jointly between customers. Secondly, the best application is by placing a quantity of wax in a bag or glove, then applied to the customer’s hand or foot and covered with a warm towel, cotton glove, or socks. To retain heat, finally leave the wax for a few minutes until it cools.
Some nail care procedures include drawing pictures or designs on the nails, applying small stickers, and may also include applying glitter gel to artificial nails, adding materials to act as extensions for nail extensions, or applying acrylic or gel.
